A Review on the Battalion 101 X8100 Gaming LaptopPosted by On

High end PC games have traditionally in the past been a domain for desk top computers, since they were equipped with the necessary hard ware to handle the processing demands that come with top off the line PC  video games. But technological advancements have led to gaming laptops that are able to deliver comparative levels of processing power, but with the added advantage of portability. The Battalion 101 X8100 laptop is heavily equipped to run high end gaming graphics, for both current and next generation video game software.

For most hardcore gamers, there can be no compromise when it comes to playing the latest and best high end video games. The Battalion 101 X8100 was developed with just that point of view in mind, running on a quad core Intel i7 740QM processor, clocking 1.72 GHz on 8 threads. To deliver top of the line graphics, the Battalion 101 X8100 is equipped with a 2x ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870 Crossfire graphics card, with 1GB of memory. To match the demand of high end PC based video games, the Battalion 101 X8100 has a 4GB of DDR3 RAM and a 320 GB hard drive running at 7200rpm. We would have preferred a little more space on the hard disk to able to play more games and load more media from one location, but you could always invest in an external hard drive, for more gaming memory on the go.

From an aesthetic point of view, the Battalion 101 X8100 has a very classy look to it, with metallic accent s and glossy black finish. The keyboard has a solid feel to it, with back lit buttons and a bluish halo around the touch pad and major key functions.  It has a massive 18.4 inch LCD screen, which does make it somewhat bulky, but it’s a small price to pay to enjoy playing games in full HD 1920X1080 resolution. It also has a 3D premium surround sound card. In our test, we found its speakers lacking in their delivery of quality surround sound, but this can be easily remedied with a good set of surround sound external speakers. Battery life comes in at a decent two and half hours from a full charge, which is ok for full time gaming. It comes preloaded with windows 7 home premium operating system, which is a standard for gaming laptops. It is priced at 2000$, which is excellent value for money.
