Making Money When It MattersPosted by On

Money comes and money goes, although it may seem as if it does more of the latter. Money is a driving force in life, it is one of those things that you don’t want to control you, but it is very hard to avoid being a slave to it. The reason for this is that everything has a price–everything material anyways, and while people would like to think you can live without it… let’s just say those people who think that have probably never had to live without it. Most people will find themselves, at one time or another, in a situation where they need more money and they needed it yesterday. Never fear, there are some ways that you can source some much needed funds rather quickly, and no, it is not recommended that you rob a bank as that would give you a whole new set of problems.

Making Money When It Matters

Freelance Writing

This is quickly becoming a go to way to drum up some money for many people from varying walks of life. The reason for this is that the internet is a constantly growing and competitive environment. Sites need to source relevant and fresh content quickly in order to compete for the top spots from larger search engines. Often the sites are monetized and receive their income from page views and click-through links. The sites that nearly anybody can get started writing on are those like Helium. You will select the assignments, write them and then receive payment. There are some that accumulate their value over time rather than immediate payoff and then you can cash out when you have met the requirements. Other sites like Odesk will allow you to connect with individuals and sites that need some freelance expertise. This is often marked by an agreement between yourself and the person requesting your services. Whichever route you choose, remember to make your work original and always thoroughly read any contracts.

Everyone has Something that can be Sold

You may not realize that there are things that you can make money from, that are parts of your body or bodily system–before you take to the streets or sell a kidney, let me explain. Many places will buy things such as hair, sperm and blood. The amount that you can receive for these items varies based on location, desirability of product, and regulations. In the case of sperm, it is not a decision you will want to make based solely on the monetary gain, it is something that you will want to consider from every angle. Blood donation on the other hand has the potential to profoundly impact someone’s life who may have, depending on circumstances, died if it were not for your generosity. It’s a win-win scenario.

Another thing to consider, while we are on the topic, is clinical trials. Often times people are needed for drug trials or studies, and they can pay quite well. Before starting with paid clinical trials or any type of study, read everything and ask questions, it is important to know what you are agreeing to in order to be sure you are comfortable with the program.

Scrounge around

Their may be some viable sources of quick income sitting around in your home. A few of these “gold mines” are:

  • If you have anything you have bought and not used that may be returned, it is time to take it back. Those items are just wasting space and holding onto money that you could use.
  • Collect and sell your scrap metal. Pop cans and other types of metal, including pipe and old swing sets, can be sold to metal recyclers. In the case of cans and bottles from alcoholic beverages, most can be returned for five or ten cents each.
  • Organize a garage sale, or if that’s not possible list things on Craigslist or Kijiji. Chances are you have stuff laying around that you don’t need or use, but somebody might want these items. Get the clutter out and the cash in your pocket.

These ideas are all great places to start when you find yourself a little short on cash. If you still aren’t having luck you may want to seek some support from a close family member that can help you. Even if you aren’t in dire financial need right now, you still may want to try a few of these ideas, after all, who can’t use a little more money in their pocket, right?
